JIM MARTIN - THE VILLAGE OF GREENWOOD LAKE REPREENTTIVE

James Martin, a resident of Greenwood Lake since grade school, was appointed by Mayor Tom Howley to represent the Village of Greenwood Lake on the Commission in September 2024. James loves the lake, the mountains that surround it, as well as the colorful history behind it. He put himself through college by working summers on oil rigs in the Gulf, and received a BA in Economics, that included coursework in Environmental Economics, from SUNY Albany. He started his career in the steamship industry with the Italian Lines in NYC, which led to a career in software development. He progressed on to becoming a software applications architect in the consumer electronics industry and has a knack for applying new technology when seeking solutions. James became more interested in protecting the lake once he became aware of just how extensively it was under attack by an ever-growing list of invasive aquatic species. Upon retirement, James decided to spread this awareness to others and started a Facebook group called “Greenwood Lakers Against Aquatic Invasive Species”. Contact
